What We Believe

The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life. (Matthew 5:18, 1 Timothy 3:14-16, Hebrews 4:12, 1 Peter 1:23-25, 2 Peter 1:19-21) |

God, Creator of all things, is infinitely perfect and eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26, Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 40:13-14, Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19, John 10:27-30, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Ephesians 4:4-6) |

God the Father is perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, and measureless in power. He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, hears and answers prayer, and saves from sin and death all who come to Him through his son Jesus Christ. (Matthew 6:31-33, Matthew 7:11, John 1:12, John 3:16, John 10:29, John 15:16, Ephesians 4:6, 1 Peter 1:2) |

Jesus Christ is true God and true man. Conceived of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the virgin Mary and lived among men. He was crucified, a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate. (Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 53, Matthew 1:18-25, Matthew 28:6, Luke 1:34-35, Luke 24:50-53, John 10:15, John 19:30-34, Hebrews 7:24-28, Hebrews 9:22-26)

The Holy Spirit's ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and, during this age, to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, and indwell, guide, instruct, comfort, and empower the believer for godly living and service. (Matthew 10:20, John 3:3-5, John 14:21, John 16:8-11, John 16:13-14, Romans 8:1-17, Romans 8:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:19, Galatians 5:16-25, Titus 3:5)

We were created to have fellowship with God, but defied Him by sinfully going our own way. As a result, we need God's saving grace to end our alienation from Him. Salvation comes only through God's saving grace - not human effort - and must be received personally by repentance and faith. (Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 3, John 3:3, John 16:7-11, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12-19, Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:1-2, Ephesians 4:22-24, Titus 3:5)

The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and, thus become children of God. (John 1:12, John 3:16, Acts 4:12, Romans 5:9, Ephesians 2:8-9, Hebrews 10:12-16, 1 Peter 3:18)

Water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation. (Matthew 28:19, John 6:53-58, Acts 2:38-42, Acts 10:47-48, 1 Corinthians 11:20-34)

The true Church is composed of all people who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is the Head. (Matthew 16:16-18, Acts 2:38-41, 1 Corinthians 12:13-14, Colossians 1:18)

The personal return of Jesus Christ is imminent, and this "Blessed Hope" has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of all believers. (Matthew 24:29-30, 1 Thessalonians 2:19, 1 Thessalonians 4:16, Titus 2:11-13)

The dead will be bodily resurrected; the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment. (Matthew 24:29-30, Luke 16:23-24, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, Revelations 20:11-15)

It is the privilege and responsibility of every believer to live a sanctified life, ministering according to the spiritual gifts and grace of God given to them. (Luke 9:23-24, Romans 12:1-8, 1 Corinthians 13, 1 Peter 4:10-11)
